WELCOME:
Welcome to the Cats General Discussion Forum of ThatAnimalSite.com
You will need to know a couple of things before you can begin posting. This topic is basically a Guide to the Cats General Discussion Forum and the Forums in general.
FORUMS:
If you've just started posting on the forums then I suggest you check out the Welcome and Announcements topic.
I also want to mention Forum Feedback. Forum Feedback is for questions, comments, requests and issues dealing with forum administration and moderation.
Two very helpful topics in Forum Feedback are the Forum NETtiquette and the Answers to Frequently Asked Questions topic.
POSTING:
You are here to post, to talk about animals. But how do you post?
- Figure out what you want to talk about, find the most appropriate forum.
- Do a quick glance on the first page to see if your topic is already being discussed. The first page holds the most active discussions. Maybe go to the next two or three pages too.
- If after all this, you still can't find your topic, post a new one.
- Post a descriptive topic name! Give a short summary of your problem
in the subject. Don't use attention getting subjects! Things like
"PLEASE HELP!" or "URGENT", posting non-descriptive leading in topic
names just to get more reads will not be tolerated.
What's the best way to get an answer to my animal related question?
- Ask your question in the appropriate Forum and topic. Some very
knowledgeable posters will try to answer it within a reasonable period
of time.
I want to discuss my animals. Where can I do that?
- You can either start your own topic or find an existing topic, some topics have already been covered. You can use the Forums Search to find the topic you're looking for.
I want to start a new topic. What should I do?
- If you want to start a new topic then go ahead and be my guest.
However, you are not the only poster on these Forums. That means that
existing topics may already cover the topic. Just use the Forums Search,
which is at the top of every forum page, and look through the first
couple of pages of the forum to make sure that you're not posting a
redundant topic.
My topic is locked. Should I start panicking?
- No. topics get locked all the time and it's nothing personal. Just
follow the instructions you get from fellow posters and the moderators
and learn from your mistakes. Start panicking when you've managed to
get several of your topics locked.
You can do pretty much anything you want here, if you follow the simple rules laid out in this topic.
Your posting abilities will be removed however, if you don't follow the rules (Terms of Use and Frequently Asked Questions).
